Feeling Overwhelmed? These 6 Tips Will Help You Relax and Reduce Stress!


If you have been feeling very overwhelmed with day to day life and responsibilities, it will eventually take a toll on your mental health and wellbeing. Feeling overwhlemed seems to get worse before it gets better, leading to even more anxiety and stress . Before you let the overwhelm take control of your life, try some of these tips that are guaranteed to help you relax and reduce stress. 

1. Journal 

When you are overwhelmed, your mind is FULL of thoughts, worries, concerns, fears, regrets, hopes, and so much more. You feel stressed beyond belief! You need to get all of these thoughts and emotions out of your head, and there is no better way to do that than writing it out. 

Journaling is a great way to reduce stress and overwhelm, as well as document things going on in your life. . Use it as a tool where you can right down what is causing you to feel stressed and overwhelmed, let the feelings flow freely as sometimes what you think is causing you stress, really isn’t it at all. Take noted of what you wrote and spend time reflecting.

  

2. Complete Something That You’ve Never Finished 

Another way to relieve overwhelm in your life is to think about something you haven’t completed, and finish it. This can be anything big or small, whether it is related to your current goals or not.  Sometimes we are simply stressed because we have so many things to do. Write down the things you need to do in order of importance and complete one of the tasksQ

Why is this helpful? Because you get a feeling of accomplishment when you complete something. Even a small thing you have been putting off, a little home project you started but didn’t complete, or a big goal, can all bring you that feeling that you did something. You worked hard and completed it.

 

3. Visualize What You Want 

Visualization is very powerful tool, almost magical. When you can see something you want to be, accomplish, or get done, it gives you inspiration and motivation. Visualizing allows you to FEEL and connect. It allows you to see yourself in the future and reinforces your dreams and aspirations. Visualizing stops you from stressing about the future and actually allows you to know that your dreams and goals are possible.

  Sometimes what you need the most is to dream. Allow your imagination to be creative and open-minded, dream up something you would love to have in your life, whether it is realistic or not.  Just take a few minutes a day to really visualize this dream, and go as far with it as you need to. When you’re done, you will feel more calm and relaxed, and ready to take on the day.

4. Develop A Healthy Bedtime Routine

Everyone needs sleep, even you! This should be your top priority, whether you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed or not. Sleep is essential for your mind, body, and spirit. You need at least 8 hours of rest each night to feel rested so that in the morning you feel focused and energetic and can tackle the day.  

Take a look at your at your bedtime routine. Maybe you need to start getting ready for bed a bit earlier, switching off the television and other electronic devices so that you can unwind. I’ts important to prioritze your bedtime routine so that you can fall asleep easily and get a good night of rest.

 

5. Prioritize Daily Tasks 

Choosing what is a priority in your life is a crucial part of making you feel less stressed and overwhelmed.   Many of us are balancing alot right now. Home life, work, kids, relationships and more which is why it’s so easy to let it overwhelm you.

Prioritize what’s important in each category of your life daily to help deal with the anxiety of what’s to come in the week. I like to tackly 3 tasks a day in any particular category, which gives me a sense of accomplishment. Prioritizing daily tasks has been a life changer.


6. Develop a Morning Routine 

Morning routines help set you up for success. They provide you a way to stay focused ,energized and positive right from the moment you wake up.  Things like doing yoga, drinking a glass of water, writing in your journal or planner, meditating or practicing mindfulness simple things to incorporate into your morning that will help you start the day on a positive note. They key is to do what feels good to you and allows you to go through the day with a sense of direction and calmness. 

 

The 6 tips will definitely help you deal with stress and overwhelm and allow you to feel more in control of your life on a daily basis. These tips will become daily habits which will , each day, lead you closer to living a stress free balanced life.
